Patna, July 1 (IANS) The Cyber police station in Bihar’s Kaimur district has arrested two youths in connection with allegedly objectionable social media posts targeting Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

The arrests were made after a video containing alleged abusive remarks circulated on social media, according to a press release issued by the police.

The accused have been identified as Ajit Paswan, alias Amit Paswan, a resident of Sarewan village under the Bhabua police station area, and Ram Singh, a resident of Nonra village in Kaimur district.

Police said both individuals were identified during the investigation and subsequently arrested.

According to the police press release, the accused allegedly created and circulated a video containing abusive and derogatory remarks directed at the Chief Minister and the former Chief Minister.

Police alleged that the content had the potential to disturb public order, affect social harmony, and hurt public sentiments.

These are allegations made by the police, and the matter will be subject to judicial proceedings.

Based on the viral post, the Cyber Police Station in Kaimur (Bhabua) registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Following their arrest, both accused are being sent to judicial custody as further legal proceedings continue.

Kaimur Police urged citizens to exercise responsibility while using social media.

The police advised the public not to create or share content that could incite violence or spread hatred against any religion, caste, community, or individual, noting that such acts may constitute punishable offences under the law.

They also appealed to people to avoid forwarding rumours or objectionable content and to report such material promptly to the nearest police station or through the Dial 112 emergency service.

The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further action will depend on the evidence gathered during the inquiry.
