Patna, July 4 (IANS) The Bihar government has announced the establishment of 100 new Fast Track Courts as part of its efforts to strengthen law and order and ensure the speedy disposal of criminal cases across the state.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary shared the decision through a social media post, stating that the government has prepared a comprehensive administrative roadmap to improve crime control and expedite the delivery of justice.

He said the initiative is aimed at strengthening the state’s legal and judicial framework while ensuring timely justice for victims.

According to the Chief Minister, the process of setting up 100 Fast Track Courts will begin soon to accelerate the hearing and disposal of serious criminal cases.

The government believes that these special courts will help reduce the backlog of pending criminal cases and ensure that trials are completed more quickly.

Officials also expect the move to enhance the deterrent effect of the criminal justice system by ensuring that offenders are brought to justice without undue delay.

The Bihar government noted that victims of crime often face prolonged waits for justice because of delays in court proceedings.

The proposed Fast Track Courts will prioritise identified criminal cases and conduct hearings on a day-to-day basis wherever required.

The objective is to ensure that cases are decided promptly on the basis of evidence and witness testimony, thereby delivering timely justice to victims and their families.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary said that a time-bound justice delivery system is essential for maintaining good governance and upholding the rule of law.

He added that the new courts would contribute to a more transparent and efficient judicial process.

The announcement comes shortly after the Chief Minister addressed the two-day conference on new criminal laws held in Bodh Gaya.

The conference brought together judicial officers, police officials and legal experts from across the country to deliberate on the implementation of India’s new criminal laws and measures to improve criminal justice administration.

According to the Chief Minister, the new criminal laws are intended to strengthen crime control, ensure timely justice for victims and improve the enforcement of the law.

He reiterated the Bihar government’s commitment to taking strict action against criminals and reinforcing the rule of law across the state.

The proposed establishment of 100 Fast Track Courts is being viewed as a significant step towards improving Bihar’s judicial infrastructure and reducing delays in the criminal justice system.
