New Delhi, July 5 (IANS) A massive fire broke out at a warehouse storing exhibition materials in Delhi’s Chandan Hola area in the early hours of Sunday, triggering a major firefighting operation in which more than 25 fire tenders were pressed into service.

After hours of sustained efforts, firefighters succeeded in bringing the blaze under control, with no casualties reported.

According to the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), the department received a call about the fire at around 2:11 a.m. The blaze had erupted at a tin-shed warehouse spread across nearly two acres in Chandan Hola, causing panic in the area as flames rapidly engulfed the premises.

Soon after receiving the alert, the Delhi Fire Services rushed more than 25 fire tenders to the spot. Firefighters launched an extensive operation to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby structures and worked through the night to douse the fire.

Officials said the rescue and firefighting operation continued for several hours before the blaze was finally brought under control. Despite the intensity of the fire and the extensive damage caused to the stored exhibition materials, no loss of life or injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Officials said an investigation will be conducted to determine the circumstances that led to the blaze.

The incident is the latest in a series of major fire accidents reported in the national capital, once again highlighting concerns over fire safety at commercial establishments and storage facilities.

Earlier on Wednesday, a major fire broke out at a three-storey commercial building housing an electronics showroom in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area, prompting a large-scale firefighting operation involving more than 15 fire tenders and over 75 firefighters.

According to the Delhi Fire Services, the blaze originated in the basement of the ground-plus-three-storey building and quickly spread throughout the structure, which was built over an area of approximately 350 square yards. Officials said the fire rapidly engulfed the entire building, damaging a large quantity of electronic goods, electrical equipment, furniture and other fixtures stored across all floors of the showroom.

Soon after receiving information about the incident, the Delhi Fire Services launched an extensive emergency response operation and deployed more than 15 fire tenders along with over 75 firefighters to prevent the flames from spreading to adjoining structures. Firefighters battled the blaze for several hours before successfully bringing it under control. According to the Delhi Fire Services, the fire was brought under control at around 6:30 a.m. after sustained firefighting efforts.

Officials had confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the Uttam Nagar incident either.
