Army’s Central Command chief calls for adaptability, tech-driven capabilities

New Delhi, July 5 (IANS) Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Central Command, stressed on adaptability and technology-driven military capabilities to address the evolving character of warfare, an official said

The Army Commander delivered an address on ‘Re-imagining Operational Art for Multi-Domain Operations’ at the School of Artillery on Friday, underscoring the imperative for innovation.

During the visit to the School of Artillery, the Army Commander also reviewed the institution’s state-of-the-art training infrastructure, designed to enable enhanced battlefield surveillance, precision targeting and decisive firepower, said a statement by the Central Command of the Indian Army.

“During his interaction with Lt Gen N. S. Sarna, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Commandant, School of Artillery, discussions focused on advancing technology-enabled training methodologies to build a future-ready force,” said the Central Command on X.

Earlier, with a view to promoting the harnessing of innovation and emerging technologies to strengthen operational capabilities, Lieutenant General H. S. Vandra, General Officer Commanding, Madhya Bharat Area and Senior Colonel Commandant, Corps of Signals, visited Military College of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Mhow.

The Central Command of the Army said in a social media statement, “The Senior Colonel Commandant reviewed cutting-edge technology initiatives and Centres of Expertise focused on drone fabrication & training, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technologies, 5G/6G and other emerging domains, contributing towards National Technology Missions.”

He also interacted with Regimental Commanders on operational deployment and effective employment of Electronic Warfare capabilities in the evolving battlespace during his visit on Friday, it said.

Earlier, the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Public Information said in a statement on social media, “The Indian Army, in collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, @gsvvadodara, conducted a five-day Skill Development Programme on AI in Military Logistics & Sustainment at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, from June 29 to July 3 2026.”

“The programme brought together military leaders, academia and industry experts, including Microsoft and Vinculum Group, to advance indigenous capabilities in Machine Learning, Generative AI and Agentic AI for next-generation military logistics,” it said.
