Bhopal, July 5 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will lay the foundation stone of the “Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Smart Industrial Park” in Bhopal on the birth anniversary of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, India’s first Minister of Industry and Supplies.

The project marks a major step towards giving the state capital a modern industrial identity and strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s position as a leading investment destination in the country.

The Smart Industrial Park, to be developed over approximately 173 acres in the Satgarhi area of Kolar, is designed to become a new hub for industrial expansion in Bhopal and surrounding regions. It will feature world-class infrastructure, including road and transport connectivity, IT and AI-enabled facilities, logistics and warehousing complexes, and modern amenities tailored to future industrial needs, a press note said.

The park will follow the ‘Work-Live-Grow’ model, integrating industries with skill development, innovation and quality living facilities. It aims to attract high-value manufacturing, garments, toys, IT (Information Technology), AI (artificial intelligence), logistics and emerging technology sectors.

This approach is expected to create more than 15,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities, significantly benefiting local youth and boosting the regional economy, the press note said.

A key feature of the project is the proposed world-class convention and exhibition centre spread over 25 acres. With a capacity to host more than 10,000 people, the complex will position Bhopal as a major MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) destination in Central India. It will host national and international investor summits, industrial exhibitions and business events.

The Satgarhi location offers strategic advantages with connectivity to Raja Bhoj International Airport, Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, Kolar Road and the proposed western bypass. This is expected to make it a key destination for logistics, connectivity-based industries and commercial activity.

The industrial park will also be developed as an environmentally sustainable and smart industrial zone. Plans include a SCADA-based water management system, water and sewage treatment plants, automated air quality monitoring, electric vehicle charging stations, modern security systems and other state-of-the-art facilities.

More than 200 industrialists, investors and representatives from industry organisations across the country and the state are expected to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony.

The project is being seen as a transformative initiative that will shift Kolar’s development focus from primarily residential to a vibrant centre of industry, investment and employment.
