Bhopal, July 6 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday announced that the state will implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) this month, saying the move would reflect the vision of Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, who advocated the principle of “One Nation, One Constitution”.

The announcement was made during a programme held in Bhopal to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Dr Mookerjee.

The Chief Minister offered floral tributes at the late leader’s statue at Lalghati before addressing party workers and the gathering.

“Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee had said that the country should be governed by one flag, one head and one Constitution. It is a matter of pride that Madhya Pradesh is moving in that direction. The Uniform Civil Code will be implemented in the state this month,” CM Yadav said.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has carved out a distinct identity globally, and Madhya Pradesh is committed to implementing initiatives that contribute to the country’s development.

The Chief Minister said the state government is focusing on industrialisation, infrastructure and employment generation while working for the welfare of all sections of society.

Referring to the state’s entry into the defence manufacturing sector, he said Madhya Pradesh has created a new chapter in its industrial development and would now manufacture different kinds of defence products.

CM Yadav also inaugurated a major industrial park at Satgarhi on this occasion. He said the project would provide employment opportunities and offer integrated facilities for industries and workers.

He added that Bhopal is emerging as an important economic centre and that the state government plans to develop large convention centres in the city to support business and investment activities.

Claiming that Madhya Pradesh has the lowest unemployment rate in the country, the Chief Minister said the state’s development initiatives were yielding positive results.

He asserted that the government would continue to strengthen infrastructure, promote investment and create employment opportunities while taking the state forward on the path of inclusive development.
