Jammu, July 7 (IANS) Bharatiya Janata Party National President, Nitin Nabin, on Tuesday held detailed discussions with party MPs, MLAs, former legislators and former DDC members about public outreach and for further strengthening the party at the grassroots level.

BJP National President Nitin Nabin concluded his two-day visit to Jammu on Tuesday. His morning engagements began at Keshav Bhavan, where he met with RSS functionaries. Afterwards, he presided over a major conference and a State Core Group meeting with party leaders at the Trikuta Nagar headquarters.

At a meeting at Keshav Bhavan he held crucial talks with RSS leaders.

He later presided over a meeting of sitting MLAs, ex-legislators, DDC members, and local panchayat heads. During this session, he gave actionable instructions to expand the party’s grassroots base.

At the State Core Group Meeting he led discussions focussing on the party’s strategic political goals in the Union Territory.

He attended a Yuva Samwad during which he engaged with young party workers and urged them to actively connect with the youth across the region.

Before leaving for New Delhi, he also visited the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine to pay his respects.

BJP leader and MLA, R.S. Pathania told reporters that the party president held over 2-hour-long discussions with the MPs, MLAs, party leaders and former legislators and DDC members.

Pathania said that new directions to further improve public outreach of the party were given by the president. He said workers and elected members of the party were directed to meet every single beneficiary of national flagship programmes and educate them about such benefits coming to them only because of the strong central government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Asked about the statement of the party president that J&K could have a BJP government in the near future, Pathania said, “Our role in J&K is that of the Opposition. We won’t bring down the government.”

“The Omar Abdullah government has failed to fulfil promises of employment to youth and development in various sectors. This government is going to fall under its own weight, why should we try to bring it down”, he said, adding that whenever the BJP forms a government in J&K, it will do so on its own strength.

Nitin Nabin concluded his two-day-long maiden visit as BJP President to J&K today.
