New Delhi/Bhopal, July 7 (IANS) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday held a series of meetings with Union Ministers during his two-day visit to the national capital to discuss key development projects and issues concerning the state, with pending Narmada river projects emerging as the main focus of the visit.

According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Yadav participated in a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah to review pending issues related to the Narmada projects. Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also attended the meeting.

The leaders discussed pending inter-state issues related to the Narmada projects and ways to speed up their implementation through better coordination among the participating states, according to the CMO.

Apart from the Narmada review meeting, Yadav met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil and Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The chief minister discussed issues related to defence establishments, railway infrastructure, water resources and irrigation, and agriculture and farmers’ welfare concerning Madhya Pradesh with the respective Union ministers.

Yadav also held separate meetings with the chief ministers of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra to discuss the implementation of inter-state projects and strengthen cooperation on issues of mutual interest.

The meetings were aimed at ensuring faster implementation of projects that require coordination between the Centre and the states, as well as at addressing matters related to Madhya Pradesh’s development.

The visit assumes significance as the state government is pursuing Central support for several infrastructure, irrigation and connectivity projects, while also seeking to expedite pending inter-state initiatives, particularly those linked to the Narmada basin.
