Raipur, July 8 (IANS) In a well-coordinated joint operation, Narayanpur Police and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) recovered a large quantity of indigenous weapons and explosive materials, including a powerful 15 kg pressure cooker IED, from a hidden Maoist dump in a forest area.

The operation was carried out to maintain peace in the declared “Naxal-free zones” and to effectively curb the remaining Maoist activities through sustained area domination and intensive search operations.

Acting on credible intelligence, the joint team launched the search operation on July 7, 2026. Superintendent of Police Robinson Gudiya and ITBP 53rd Division Commandant Sanjay Kumar led the operation.

The team, consisting of ITBP personnel, one representative from Narayanpur Police and a five-member bomb disposal squad, conducted searches starting from village Edsmeta and the surrounding forest areas near the Adingpar camp, police officials said.

During the thorough combing of the dense forest terrain, the security forces discovered a significant cache of arms and explosives concealed by Maoists.

A 15 kg pressure cooker IED found at the site was safely defused through a controlled explosion by the bomb disposal squad following all prescribed security procedures.

The team also recovered one locally manufactured rocket launcher, 16 indigenous 51 mm mortar rounds, five indigenous 84 mm rocket launcher rounds, 10 indigenous 40×46 mm barrel grenade launcher rounds, eight .303 rifle cartridges and four tactical pouches, the officials said.

The successful recovery is a major setback to Maoist activities in the region.

After completing the mission, the joint force returned safely to the Adingpar camp.

Officials confirmed that anti-LWE campaigns and intensive search operations will continue vigorously in the area to ensure complete dominance and long-term peace.

This joint effort underscores the strong coordination between the state police and central forces in tackling internal security challenges and safeguarding local communities from Naxal threats.
