Kerala BJP dismisses ‘fake’ circular, threatens legal action against rumour mongers

Thiruvananthapuram, July 9 (IANS) Kerala unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Thursday dismissed as completely false an alleged BJP office circular that has been circulating on social media platforms and aired by some television news channels, asserting that the document was fabricated to malign the party.

In a statement, Chandrasekhar, one of the BJP’s three MLAs in the 140-member Kerala Assembly, categorically denied reports suggesting financial irregularities in connection with the recent Assembly elections.

He said no instance of financial misconduct had been detected anywhere within the party and maintained that the BJP had followed a transparent and accountable system throughout its election campaign.

According to the Kerala BJP President, the party completed a comprehensive audit of election-related accounts within days of the polls.

The auditing process, he said, covered every level of the organisation, from the national leadership to the state, district and Assembly constituency units, reflecting the party’s commitment to financial discipline and transparency.

Chandrasekhar said the BJP’s transparent functioning was evident from its electoral performance, pointing out that the party created history by winning three seats in the Kerala Assembly for the first time.

He added that the party’s National Organisation General Secretary had personally congratulated leaders and workers for the manner in which the election campaign was conducted.

Alleging that the fake circular was part of a deliberate disinformation campaign, Chandrasekhar said anti-national forces, jealous of the BJP’s organisational growth and leadership, had manufactured and circulated the document to mislead the public and damage the party’s credibility.

He urged party workers to remain vigilant against what he described as organised attempts to spread misinformation.

The BJP President also clarified that disciplinary proceedings at various organisational levels are a normal feature of any democratic political party and constitute internal matters that do not concern the public or the media.

Warning of strict action, Chandrasekhar said the BJP would initiate legal proceedings against those responsible for creating and disseminating the fabricated circular and other false reports.
