Rajasthan rape case: Hanuman Beniwal demands law for public hanging of child sexual assault convicts

Jaipur, July 11 (IANS) Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) MP and National Convener Hanuman Beniwal on Saturday condemned the alleged sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl in Sri Ganganagar, demanding a law that would allow those convicted of such crimes to be publicly hanged at town squares.

In a post on social media platform X, Beniwal criticised the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led Rajasthan government over the incident, questioning the state’s law-and-order situation.

Tagging the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and the Rajasthan Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the RLP Convener alleged that the minor had been held captive and subjected to abuse for several days without the local police detecting the crime.

Describing the case as a matter of deep concern, Beniwal said the incident had brought shame to Rajasthan and reflected serious administrative failure.

He alleged that despite the victim being held for several days, the local intelligence network and police administration failed to act.

He said that repeated incidents of crimes against women and children indicated weaknesses in the state’s law-and-order machinery.

Questioning the state government, Beniwal asked how such an alleged crime could take place in hotels without the knowledge of the local administration.

He sought accountability from the police, the Excise Department, and other authorities responsible for monitoring such establishments.

The RLP leader said arresting the main accused alone would not be sufficient.

He demanded action against anyone found to have directly or indirectly protected the accused, as well as officials whose negligence may have contributed to the incident.

Beniwal urged the Rajasthan government to take full responsibility for the victim’s medical treatment, rehabilitation, and psychological counselling.

He also called for the case to be heard on a day-to-day basis in a fast-track court to ensure timely justice.

Referring to his earlier interventions in Parliament, Beniwal said he has repeatedly called for tougher laws against those convicted of crimes against children.

He reiterated his demand for legislation providing for the public hanging of offenders convicted in such cases, saying that harsher punishments would act as a deterrent.

The alleged assault of the minor has triggered widespread public and political reactions across Rajasthan, with several leaders demanding a swift investigation and strict legal action against those responsible.
