Patna, July 16 (IANS) Acting on the directions of the City Superintendent of Police (West), a special police operation was carried out at several hotels in the Danapur and Rupaspur police station areas on Wednesday night. During the raids, police detained several individuals for questioning.

At a hotel in the Danapur area, officers questioned one young man and two young women.

At Buddha Residency in Rupaspur, police detained three women and one man, all of whom were brought to the police station for verification and interrogation.

According to police, the three women detained in Rupaspur are residents of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, while the man is from Ara.

In a separate action in Danapur, police detained seven young men and brought two young women for questioning.

During questioning, one of the young women reportedly told police that she had come to the hotel to pass the time, while one of the young men said he had travelled from Mumbai to meet his girlfriend.

The raids were led by SDPO-1 Ajit Kumar following specific Intelligence inputs.

The operation triggered panic among hotel operators as police teams inspected around half a dozen establishments, including Hotel Edison, Hotel i-Con, Dream Villa, and Buddha Residency.

Police officials clarified that all the persons detained are adults and that questioning is being conducted to verify the circumstances of their stay and ascertain whether any illegal activity was taking place.

SDPO-1 Ajit Kumar said the raids were conducted on the instructions of senior police officials after receiving specific information.

The operation covered hotels in the SK Puram, Saguna More, and RPS More localities, among other areas.

Police stated that investigations are continuing and that legal action will be taken wherever violations of law are found. Officials also said they are examining whether any organised illegal network is linked to the establishments that were searched.

The officer added that similar inspection drives will continue in the future as part of ongoing efforts to curb unlawful activities operating under the guise of hotel businesses.

Police have not publicly disclosed the specific offences allegedly committed by the detained individuals, and the enquiry is ongoing.
