Mumbai, July 16 (IANS) Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday asked all government departments to make substantial progress by August 15, conduct fresh reviews of every service, and significantly reduce the required documentation.

He called upon all departments to coordinate to establish Maharashtra’s identity as the “state with the most accessible government services.”

His directives come as the Maharashtra government, under the Governance Process Re-engineering (GPR) initiative, has proposed to make government services more accessible, transparent, and technology-driven, and these are being fast-tracked.

The Chief Minister made these remarks while chairing a review meeting of the third phase of GPR.

Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted that a six-step process has been established for each service under the GPR framework. This includes GPR Report formulation, consultations with the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), departmental approval, technical development through MahaIT, issuance of Government Resolution (GR), and final testing.

He directed that all departments must reach at least the fifth stage by August 15, meaning issuing the necessary GRs and keeping the services ready for final testing.

To provide fast, transparent, and hassle-free services to citizens, the government has undertaken a comprehensive review of its public services. Duplicate services have been merged, while outdated or redundant services have been discontinued to optimise the overall delivery system.

Efforts are underway to transition all government services, in a phased manner, to robust digital platforms such as MahaDBT 2.0, Maitri, and Aaple Sarkar 2.0.

The Chief Minister directed the Information Technology Department to build a resilient and seamless technical infrastructure to prevent any technical glitches during service delivery, emphasising that all tasks must be completed within strict deadlines.

On this occasion, CM Fadnavis launched two landmark projects of the Electronics, Information Technology, and Artificial Intelligence Department: ‘Data Analytics as a Service’ and the ‘Mini Setu Kendra’.

Speaking on the launch, the Chief Minister emphasised the transformative power of technology in governance.

He noted that integrating data analytics will make administration highly accountable, curb malpractice, save state funds, and boost transparency in public service delivery.

In a major citizen-centric move, the police facilitation centres in the Maoist-free areas of Gadchiroli district are being transformed into ‘Setu Kendras’ (citizen service centres).

The Chief Minister stated that special efforts are being made to ensure that all government services are effectively delivered to these remote regions.
