Bengaluru, July 29 (IANS) In a shocking case, a severed human head was found on a cricket ground in Kodathi, under the Varthur police limits in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on Wednesday.
According to police, the gruesome discovery was made by a group of boys who had arrived at the ground early in the morning to play cricket. They noticed the severed head lying on the premises and immediately alerted the Varthur police.
Police personnel rushed to the spot and conducted a preliminary inspection. However, the remaining parts of the body have not yet been traced.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident. Police suspect that the severed head was brought to the ground on a motorcycle, as tyre marks believed to be of a two-wheeler were found at the scene.
The Varthur police are gathering preliminary information and have launched an investigation into the case.
Further details, including the identity of the victim and the motive behind the crime, are yet to emerge.
The incident has created panic among residents of the area, while police continue their efforts to piece together the sequence of events.
On August 10, 2025, the severed head and dismembered body of a woman were found stuffed in multiple plastic bags along the road at Kolala village in Koratagere in Tumakuru.
According to police, initially on August 7, seven covers with the woman’s body parts stuffed were brought to their notice by passersby. Later, Koratagere police combed the crime spot and found seven more plastic bags stuffed with body parts and the head on August 8. The police zeroed in on the identity of the woman with the help of the head.
The police probe revealed that the killers came in a car to dispose of the body stuffed in plastic bags. They found that they were scattered all along the road connecting Chimpuganhalli and Venkatapura villages.
The victim was identified as 42-year-old Lakshmidevamma. Police arrested her son-in-law, a local dentist named Dr Ramachandrappa S., and two accomplices who confessed to chopping the body to destroy evidence following family conflicts.
