Gorakhpur, Aug 10 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday led a Tiranga Yatra in Gorakhpur as part of the nationwide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. The yatra concluded at Railway Station Chowk after participants paid tribute to freedom icons Rani Lakshmibai and Maharana Pratap.

Addressing the gathering, CM Yogi highlighted the significance of the national flag and its connection to India’s freedom struggle.

“The Tricolour represents the indelible saga of sacrifices made by India’s revolutionaries and freedom fighters. It is an inspiration drawn from that immortal history. If young people are deprived of their ideals, it means we have deprived them of moments of pride and done an injustice to the nation’s youth,” he said.

The Chief Minister also spoke about the evolution of the Indian national flag and its role in the independence movement.

“In 1905, Swadeshi became the mantra of India’s freedom struggle. Later, during the 1930s, the Charkha at the centre of the Tricolour became a symbol of India’s freedom fighters. After Independence, the Dharma Chakra was placed at the centre of the flag, and the national flag was adopted with the Chakra symbolising the collective spirit of the nation,” he said.

The Tiranga Yatra witnessed enthusiastic participation from people across the city. One of the participants told IANS, “Like every year, CM Yogi has led a Tiranga Yatra this year as well. We feel happy and fortunate to be part of this padayatra while carrying the national flag in our hands.”

Later, CM Yogi shared a message on social media platform X, describing the Tricolour as a symbol of India’s honour, prestige and glory.

In a post on social media ‘X’, CM Yogi said, “The Tricolour, the symbol of India’s honour, prestige, and glory, embodies the indelible saga of the sacrifices made by our revolutionaries and freedom fighters. Today, I participated in the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ organised in Gorakhpur district as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also urged citizens to actively take part in the Centre’s ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, terming the Tricolour as “pride” and “source of motivation”.

This year, the campaign has been organised under the theme of ‘Vande Mataram’.

Taking to X, PM Modi reposted a Ministry of Culture post, saying, “Our Tricolour is our pride and a constant source of inspiration to always give our best for the nation.”

“Let us participate enthusiastically in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ movement and renew our collective resolve to contribute towards building a Viksit Bharat, he said while underlining this year’s theme as that of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.”
