Indore, Aug 24 (IANS) Lokayukta Police in Indore have registered an FIR against four individuals, including the then Town Inspector (TI) of the Indore Crime Branch, Sujeet Srivastava, on charges of demanding a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh.

The other accused are Abhay Singh (private driver), Vikas (then constable, Crime Branch Indore), and a private individual from Indore.

According to Lokayukta officials, the complaint was filed by a woman, a resident of Tulsi Nagar, on April 2, 2026. She alleged that her son was summoned to the Crime Branch office at Regal Square in connection with a complaint.

The officers allegedly demanded Rs 1.20 lakh in exchange for not taking any action against him and releasing him. Of this amount, Rs 50,800 was transferred via UPI to Deepak Patel’s bank account on March 20, while the remaining Rs 70,000 was taken in cash.

Lokayukta SP Rajesh Sahay directed a thorough physical and technical verification of the complaint. Technical evidence related to the transactions submitted by the complainant was examined in detail.

After the verification found the allegations prima facie true, a case was registered on Monday, August 24, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act and Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the officials said.

Sujeet Srivastava is currently posted at the DRP Line, while one of the constables involved continues to serve in the Crime Branch. Additional information indicates that Srivastava was reportedly line-attached earlier in April 2026 in connection with a separate matter involving non-submission of a court file.

The private individuals named have no official connection with the police department. The incident is stated to have taken place at the Crime Branch office, Regal Square.

Lokayukta Police have begun a detailed investigation into the alleged bribe demand, the transfer and receipt of money, and the specific roles of each accused. Further probes will examine all related aspects of the case.
