Ahmedabad, Aug 25 (IANS) The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) held a group meeting in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, bringing together representatives of organisations associated with its economic and service groups along with Gujarat Ministers and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.
The meeting was held at Hedgewar Bhavan in Maninagar, with RSS office-bearers, representatives of affiliated organisations and political leaders attending different sessions.
RSS Prant Karyavah Shailesh Patel clarified that the gathering was a group meeting and not a coordination meeting, as had been described in some reports.
“First of all, today’s meeting was a group meeting. It was not a coordination meeting. Group meetings are held twice a year,” Patel said.
He added that the meeting brought together workers from the economic and service groups.
The economic group includes organisations such as the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh and Laghu Udyog Bharati, while the service group includes organisations such as the National Medicos Organisation, Ayurvedic Vyaspeeth and Bharat Vikas Parishad.
“The Ministers who attended came to meet the organisations under the respective group for which the meeting was being held,” Patel said.
The meeting was conducted in two sessions, both of which were completed on Tuesday.
Patel added that such group meetings are held twice a year.
The second session began on Tuesday afternoon and was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Ministers Arjun Modhwadia, Pradyuman Vaja, Kanu Desai, Jitu Vaghani, Praful Pansheriya and State BJP President Jagdish Vishwakarma.
The session focused on organisations associated with ideological and educational activities.
RSS Co-Secretary Arun Kumar was also present at the meeting.
Representatives of various organisations associated with the Sangh participated in discussions during the two-day programme.
The gathering brought together representatives from different sectors of the Sangh’s organisational network and members of the state government for discussions concerning the respective groups.
Ministers attending the sessions interacted with representatives of organisations falling under the groups concerned.
The participation of Ministers and BJP leaders in the sessions provided an opportunity for representatives of the organisations to raise matters concerning their respective sectors and discuss them directly with those attending from the government.
The meeting comes as the RSS continues its centenary-year activities across the country. Its state activities have also involved interactions with a range of organisations working in social, economic, educational and service sectors.
