Hyderabad, Sep 10 (IANS) Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday asked Congress legislators to strongly counter what he called the conspiracy of the opposition BRS to disrupt the smooth functioning of the State Legislature.

Addressing a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting, he alleged that the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) hatched the conspiracy at the farmhouse of its leader and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

He urged the Congress MLA and MLCs to strongly counter the opposition’s conspiracy and expose their plot against the government before the public.

CM Revanth Reddy said even after losing power, the BRS leaders refused to shed their arrogance; they verbally abused police officers and public representatives and disrupted the proceedings of the House for three days.

They behaved inappropriately towards officials and caused embarrassment by taking off their T-shirts in the presence of female officers. They used highly objectionable language to abuse the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, he said.

He alleged that when the SC Cell organised a protest programme, they insulted the Dalit community by ritually “purifying” the ground where Dalits had walked.

The Chief Minister said an inquiry has already been initiated into the incidents that took place at the Assembly gate on September 7.

Both the former ministers are presently with the BRS, and they were allegedly manhandled during the September 7 incident.

He urged the Congress legislators to explain to the public the decisions taken and the development and welfare programmes implemented by the Congress government during the last 1,000 days.

He thanked the legislators for their cooperation during these 1,000 days of governance.

He told them that with their support, the government implemented initiatives not seen elsewhere in the country.

The CM told the Congress legislators to participate in the discussions in the Assembly. Care must be taken to ensure that attendance in the House does not drop.

“If you do not make proper use of the mandate given by the people, you will not be able to succeed politically in the future,” he said and urged them to raise issues concerning their respective constituencies.

Revanth Reddy also remarked that those who rose through the Congress party were now seeking to cause harm to the party. “If the Congress party had not provided the opportunity, would Sunitha Laxma Reddy and Sabitha Indra Reddy have risen to become state-level leaders otherwise?” he asked.

Referring to the caste census conducted in Telangana, he said that it serves as a role model for the country. “This is an achievement of the Telangana state. We must pressure the Centre to adopt the Telangana model and conduct a caste census alongside the general census,” he said.

The CM alleged that there is a conspiracy to delete votes under the guise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

CM Revanth Reddy said the country’s adult population is estimated at 103 crore, but the voter list shows only 88 crore. He claimed that 15 crore votes have gone missing across the country and remarked that there is a danger lurking somewhere.

He urged MLAs to work seriously to protect the voting rights of people.

“Your conduct will influence your chances of winning a second term. Your individual performance will determine your electoral success or failure. Treat the SIR issue with the seriousness it deserves,” he said.

Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President Mahesh Kumar Goud, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and all ministers attended the meeting.
