New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS) New Delhi Municipal Council’s (NDMC) Vice Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal on Friday visited the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) to review the preparations and arrangements for the BRICS Summit 2026, an official said on Friday.

This Command Centre, acting as the Council’s ‘third eye’, continuously monitors traffic, sanitation, drainage, beautification and other arrangements, so that any potential problem can be identified in time and prompt action can be taken, the official said in a statement.

Chahal said that the NDMC is fully committed to keeping New Delhi clean, beautiful, safe and well-organised during BRICS 2026.

The NDMC’s ICCC was established in 2020 under the Smart City Project at a cost of Rs 65 crore.

Various civic services are monitored through 18 screens at the ICCC which is manned by 50 dedicated staff 24×7.

Around 16,252 Smart Street Lights in the NDMC area are integrated with the ICCC.

Their status, information on faulty lights, and on/off and dimming are also monitored at the centre.

Live tracking of 918 Smart Bin Vehicles, 16 Construction and demolition Waste Vehicles, and nine Mechanical Road Sweepers is also done through GPS at the ICCC.

For road monitoring, the ICCC relies on CCTV cameras belonging to various agencies.

There are 333 cameras in NDMC area, 25 in Hanuman Mandir area, 276 installed by the Delhi Police and 214 owned by PWD.

The ICCC also monitors water logging situation through CCTV and sensitive waterlogged areas are identified and managed.

Earlier, the NDMC spruced up central Delhi areas for the BRICS Summit by implementing a plan for the beautification and improvement of its green spaces.

As part of its preparations to showcase New Delhi as a world-class capital and provide a visually striking experience to visiting BRICS delegates and international guests, the NDMC has undertaken decorative illumination of 17 major roundabouts, 11 hotel premises and 10 prominent NDMC buildings, an official statement said.

The illumination works are aimed at giving key locations a distinctive and elegant appearance while reflecting the grandeur and international significance of the Summit, it added.
