Amaravati, Sep 14 (IANS) Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazeer and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu congratulated Indian archer Dhiraj Bommadevara on his historic gold medal victory at the Archery World Cup Final in Saltillo, Mexico.
Dhiraj scripted history by becoming the first Indian male recurve archer to win gold at the prestigious World Cup Final, defeating Japan’s Nakanishi Junya in a thrilling shoot-off.
The Governor said Dhiraj’s remarkable achievement is a proud moment for India and Andhra Pradesh and wished him to win many more such medals in the future.
“From the archery grounds of Vijayawada to the top of the global podium in Mexico! History has been made! Heartiest congratulations to Dhiraj Bommadevara on becoming the FIRST Indian male archer to win individual Gold at the Archery World Cup Final!” Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu posted on X.
“Today, the entire state of Andhra Pradesh and the nation are beaming with pride as you have ended a 16-year wait for India, sealing victory with a flawless 10 in the final shoot-off. Dhiraj, you have shown the world what relentless grit, focus and determination can achieve. You are an inspiration to the immense talent across our state. Wishing you immense success. Keep hitting the bullseye!,” added the Chief Minister.
Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan conveyed heartiest congratulations to Dhiraj Bommadevara on his historic triumph at the Archery World Cup Final 2026 in Saltillo, Mexico.
With remarkable composure, precision and determination, Dhiraj defeated Japan’s Junya Nakanishi in a thrilling shoot-off to claim Recurve Men’s individual gold, becoming the first Indian male recurve archer to win gold at the World Cup Final. His journey and dedication are especially inspiring, the Deputy CM said in a post on X.

Former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy also congratulated Dhiraj on the historic victory at the Archery World Cup Final and the India women’s cricket team on winning the Asia Cup.
