Last month, the Australia India Business Council (AIBC) ACT Chapter President, Swaroop Kaushik, attended the Diwali reception hosted by the ACT Chief Minister in Canberra, reinforcing the vibrant ties between the Indian–Australian community and local government.
The reception underscored how the Australia–India relationship thrives not only via trade and policy, but also through shared culture, respectful dialogue and genuine connection. As Diwali — the festival of lights — symbolises the victory of light over darkness and renewal over stagnation, it resonates deeply with diaspora communities seeking to maintain cultural roots whilst contributing to their adopted homeland.
“We look forward to continued collaboration across the ACT and nationally,” Mr Kaushik remarked, wishing the broader Indian community a prosperous year ahead.
This gathering was a timely reminder: strong multicultural partnerships depend as much on lanterns and conversations as they do on formal agreements.
