The Indian Consul General in Perth and Smt. Takhi were given a warm farewell at a reception hosted in their honour, where they expressed their gratitude for the unwavering support of the Western Australia (WA) community during their tenure. The event saw participation from Indian diaspora members, government representatives, business leaders, medical professionals, academicians, and students. Distinguished guests, including Dr. Jags MLA, Yaz Mubarakai MLA, Sally Dawkins, Director, WA State Office, DFAT, Mayor Patrick Hall, City of Canning, and Deputy Lord Mayor Cr. Bruce Reynolds, City of Perth, praised the Consul General’s contributions to strengthening India-WA relations.
The reception also saw the presence of Mayor Tanya Richardson, City of Swan, former Australian cricketer Michael Villetta, actress Isha Sherwani, filmmaker Ghirija Jayarraj, former AIMA president Dr. Purushattam Gera, ISWA president Deepak Sharma, and FIAWA president Eipe Chundamannil. Several Indian-origin Councillors, including Cr. Raj Doshi, Cr. Hardeep Singh, Cr. Keyur Kamdar, and Cr. Balli Singh, also joined the gathering.
Representatives from the Sikh Association of WA, Murdoch University’s Prof. Rajeev Varshney, CEO of Shire of Dowerin Manisha Barthakur Sarma, and leaders of cultural and community associations honoured the Consul General and Smt. Takhi with felicitations and mementos, recognizing their dedicated service. The event reflected the deep bond between India and Western Australia and the legacy of goodwill fostered by the departing Consul General.
