The Consulate General of India, Melbourne organised a special programme to celebrate World Hindi Day, bringing together members of the Indian community, language enthusiasts, and children for an evening dedicated to Hindi language and culture.
The programme featured a variety of engaging activities, including Hindi poetry competitions in both junior and senior categories, cultural performances, a quiz contest, and a theatrical presentation. The events highlighted the creative use of Hindi and reflected its continuing relevance among younger generations as well as senior community members.
Speaking at the function, the Consul General addressed the audience on the importance of Hindi as a global language and its role in strengthening cultural bonds. On the occasion, the Consul General also read out the message of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, issued to mark World Hindi Day.
Participants and winners of the various competitions were presented with prizes and certificates in recognition of their performances and enthusiastic involvement.
The celebration saw active participation from distinguished guests and members of the community, including Dr Peter Friedlander, Prof Arnold Dix, Dr Subhash Sharma, Dr Ved Vyathit, Yogesh Bhatt, along with Hindi lovers and children. The event underlined the Consulate’s ongoing efforts to promote Indian languages and cultural heritage among the diaspora in Australia.
