Chennai, Jan 20 (IANS) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK President M. K. Stalin on Tuesday issued a strong call for unity, discipline, and intensive grassroots work as the party prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing a meeting of DMK district secretaries at the party headquarters, Anna Arivalayam, Stalin laid out clear political and organisational directives, emphasising that electoral success would depend on relentless field-level engagement.
The consultation meeting, chaired by Stalin, saw the passage of several key resolutions aimed at strengthening the party’s organisational machinery ahead of the polls.
Speaking to the district secretaries, the Chief Minister cautioned party functionaries against being distracted by internal or external attempts to sow discord within the alliance.
“Within any alliance, there will always be some who do not like us,” Stalin said. “Such elements may express unnecessary opinions or try to create confusion. None of us should fall prey to such designs.”
Stressing that alliance management and seat-sharing negotiations would be handled at the leadership level, he urged party cadres to remain focused solely on election work. Stalin made it clear that every constituency mattered.
“You must work with the mindset that I am contesting in all 234 Assembly constituencies,” he told the district secretaries, calling on them to give “100 per cent fieldwork” in every region.
He underlined that organisational complacency at any level could prove costly in a closely fought election. Highlighting the importance of public engagement, Stalin advised party workers to maintain humility and patience while interacting with citizens.
“When people voice their grievances, we must not respond with anger, irritation, or arrogance. Our only objective should be to return to power by earning the people’s trust,” he said.
The Chief Minister also outlined the party’s approach to its election manifesto, stating that the DMK would release a people-centric document shaped by public participation.
He reiterated that the party’s governance model aims to ensure that no family in Tamil Nadu is left untouched by welfare schemes and development initiatives.
Calling on party cadres to take the achievements of what he described as the “Dravidian model of governance” to every household, Stalin urged district secretaries to intensify campaign efforts.
“With only a few days left for the elections, we must work tirelessly, day and night, to secure victory,” he said.
The meeting underscored the DMK leadership’s emphasis on unity, discipline, and mass outreach as the party moves into the decisive phase of the electoral battle.
