Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, was formally received by the Governor-General and Mr Beckett at Admiralty House on 8 November. The welcome ceremony began with a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony performed by Cammeraygal Elder Brendan Kerin.
Princess Anne, who serves as the Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals, is currently visiting Australia as part of the Corps’ 100th anniversary celebrations.
During her visit, the Governor-General — in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force — will join Her Royal Highness in laying a wreath at the Anzac Memorial in Hyde Park and attending a ceremonial parade at Victoria Barracks to commemorate the milestone.
The visit underscores the historic and enduring ties between the British Royal Family and Australia’s Defence Forces, celebrating a century of dedication and communication excellence within the Signals Corps.
