Chennai, Jan 20 (IANS) Veteran politician and former minister K. A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday firmly denied reports suggesting that he was being marginalised within the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) or that he was contemplating a move to the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK).
Terming the claims as baseless rumours and “fake news,” Sengottaiyan said the speculation was both misleading and hurtful. Refuting the reports, Sengottaiyan reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to TVK president Vijay and the party’s political direction.
In a strongly worded statement, the TVK leader underscored his ideological roots and personal journey in public life. “I come from the ideological tradition of Puratchi Thalaivar and Puratchi Thalaivi Amma. At a difficult phase in my political life, it was Thalapathy (Vijay) who stood by me, guided me, and enabled me to carve a place for myself in politics. He will always have an irreplaceable place in my heart,” Sengottaiyan said.
Expressing complete confidence in Vijay’s leadership, the senior leader said the party leadership and cadre were united in their determination to see Vijay assume office as Chief Minister in the 2026 Assembly elections.
“With the strength and blessings of the people, we are all working together to seat him on the throne of governance. His sacrifice and compassion are unparalleled. He lives in the hearts of the people, and under his leadership, both our lives and Tamil Nadu’s future will unfold,” he added.
Sengottaiyan also took strong exception to what he described as irresponsible reporting by a section of the media. He said the publication of unverified and factually incorrect information was deeply distressing. “It is painful to see false reports appear in newspapers. Claiming neutrality while spreading such misinformation goes against the very spirit of journalistic ethics. I strongly condemn this,” he said.
The rebuttal comes amid reports in a section of the media claiming that Sengottaiyan, the chief coordinator of TVK’s administrative committee, was being sidelined within the party. The reports alleged that leaders N Anand, Aadhav Arjuna, and Vijay’s advisor, John Arockiyasamy, had curtailed his role, leading to dissatisfaction and speculation about a possible switch to the DMK.
Sengottaiyan’s statement has now categorically laid those rumours to rest.
