Violent assaults are on the rise across the Sunshine Coast with at least three suburbs recording an alarming 300 per cent spike in violent crimes in the past year.
Queensland Police Service crime data reveals that there were 26 violent crimes reported in Caloundra West last year compared with just six in 2016, a 333 per cent increase.
Similar spikes were recorded in Bli Bli, which experienced 26 violent crimes last year compared with just seven the previous year, and Birtinya (13 in 2017 compared to three in 2016).
Violence also increased significantly in Landsborough, Beerwah and Buddina.
Maroochydore, with 111 violent crimes, and Nambour, with 110, were the most violent suburbs last year.
There was a slight increase in Maroochydore (up from 108) while violence in Nambour was up 50 per cent from 78.
Violence is on the rise across the Sunshine Coast, with 1127 offences last year compare with 890 in 2016, an increase of 27 per cent.
Noosaville recorded one of the most significant declines, with only 21 offences in 2017 compared with 34 in 2016.
Violence had also reduced in Sippy Downs, Noosa Heads and Pelican Waters.
