Perth, June 21 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
The 11th International Day of Yoga was marked with a series of inspiring events across Western Australia and the Northern Territory, led by the Consulate General of India in Perth in collaboration with several cultural and spiritual organisations. Celebrated under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health,” the initiatives brought communities together through the ancient practice of yoga, highlighting its universal appeal and relevance.
In Darwin, the Consulate joined forces with the Indian Association of the Northern Territory Inc to host a yoga celebration that drew strong community participation and promoted wellness and togetherness in the Top End.
Back in Western Australia, the Hindu Council of Australia – Perth Chapter hosted a lively session with the support of the Consulate, offering participants an opportunity to engage in holistic practices that promote both mental peace and physical fitness.
Another event, organised with the Maharashtra Mandal Perth, saw local families and community members come together to celebrate the day with enthusiasm, blending tradition with wellbeing.
In the regional hub of Bunbury, a serene yoga session was held in partnership with SWIG (Spirituality, Wellness, and Inner Growth), giving residents a chance to embrace the calming and meditative aspects of yoga.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Indian Associations of Western Australia (FIAWA) hosted a major celebration that brought together a wide cross-section of the multicultural community, showcasing yoga’s power to unify across backgrounds.
Adding to the spiritual tone of the day, the Science of Spirituality Yoga Retreat partnered with the Consulate to deliver a session centred around mindfulness and inner peace, attracting participants eager to explore the deeper aspects of yoga.
The City of Swan also joined the celebrations, further extending the reach of Yoga Day into Perth’s suburban communities and underlining the grassroots enthusiasm for healthy, holistic lifestyles.
The Isha Foundation collaborated with the Consulate for a well-received session that reinforced the accessibility and versatility of yoga in everyday life.
These diverse celebrations across regions not only honoured the spirit of Yoga Day but also reinforced the growing appreciation for India’s ancient tradition as a tool for unity, wellness, and global harmony. The Consulate extended its gratitude to all partner organisations and participants for making the International Day of Yoga 2025 a resounding success.
