The Hindu Council of Australia hosted grand Dussehra and Diwali celebrations at Rocklea Showgrounds, attended by Consul General Neetu Bhagotia and a large gathering of the Indian community and friends of India. Dignitaries including Senator Paul Scarr, Margie Nightingale MP, Julie-Ann Campbell MP representing the Prime Minister’s Office, and local councillors joined the festivities, reflecting strong community and governmental support.
During the event, Consul General Bhagotia and other dignitaries conveyed festive greetings and highlighted the role of multiculturalism in enriching Australian society, while acknowledging the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora to Queensland’s social and economic development.
The celebrations featured dynamic cultural performances, showcasing music and traditional dances from different Indian states. The highlight of the evening was the symbolic burning of a large effigy, marking the victory of good over evil and bringing the community together in a joyful and vibrant celebration of Indian heritage.
