New Delhi, April 1 (IANS) In a significant breakthrough, the AGS Crime Branch of Delhi Police has apprehended a proclaimed offender and alleged kingpin of the Mukhiya gang, officials said on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Rahul alias Dahur alias Raju Mukhiya, a resident of Madhubani in Bihar, was arrested from the Nangli area of Dwarka in the national Capital following sustained surveillance and a targeted operation by the Crime Branch. He had been evading judicial proceedings across multiple jurisdictions and had been declared a proclaimed offender in several cases registered in Delhi and Haryana.

According to officials, the accused is involved in multiple criminal cases of organised house robberies and thefts and is considered the key operator of the Mukhiya gang. The gang allegedly used a well-planned modus operandi involving infiltration into households through domestic help placements.

Members of the gang would secure employment as servants or maids in affluent households through placement agencies, gain the trust of the families, and gather sensitive information about valuables and household routines before facilitating robberies.

Police said that the gang would execute thefts when the house was unoccupied or at opportune moments, often with the involvement of insiders who would assist in identifying targets and timings.

The operation was carried out by a dedicated team of the Anti-Gangster Squad (AGS) of the Crime Branch led by Insp. Krishan Kumar, under the supervision of ACP/AGS Bhagwati Prasad and overall direction of senior officers including DCP/Crime Branch Harsh Indora, an IPS officer. Acting on specific Intelligence inputs, the team laid a trap in the Nangli area and successfully apprehended the accused during surveillance.

Officials stated that the accused has been involved in several FIRs, including cases registered at Rajouri Garden, Kalkaji, Greater Kailash in Delhi, and DLF Phase-II in Gurugram. He had earlier been arrested in these cases but repeatedly failed to appear before courts after securing bail, prompting the declaration of proclaimed offender status.

Investigators revealed that the accused has a history of criminal activity dating back over a decade, during which he allegedly expanded his network by recruiting individuals across states and using them to carry out coordinated thefts. His activities reportedly involved the use of domestic servants as facilitators in targeting households and executing robberies.

Further investigation is underway to identify other associates of the gang and to uncover the full extent of its operations, police added.
