Aligarh, May 1 (IANS) A minor dispute over an Instagram comment escalated into a violent clash in Nagla Patwari, under the Quarsi police station area of Aligarh, leaving two brothers injured one critically after a firearm was used during the altercation.

According to reports, the incident began when a youth named Adnan posted content on Instagram. Another youth, Ayan, commented “I am your father,” which allegedly offended Adnan. In response, Adnan confronted Ayan on the road, leading to a heated argument that soon turned into a physical fight between the two.

As tensions escalated, family members and elders from both sides reached the spot and became involved in the dispute. During the confrontation, a youth identified as Babu, from Adnan’s side, allegedly fired a shot using an illegal country-made pistol. The bullet struck Sameer, who had arrived at the scene from Ayan’s side, and lodged in his chest.

Seeing his elder brother seriously injured, Sameer’s younger brother, Faizan, attempted to catch hold of the accused. However, Babu reportedly struck Faizan on the head with the butt of the pistol before fleeing the scene.

The firing created panic in the locality, with residents rushing for safety amid the chaos. Meanwhile, locals and friends immediately transported the injured Sameer and Faizan to JN Medical College, where both are currently undergoing treatment. Doctors have stated that Sameer’s condition remains critical.

Police officials, including SP City Aditya Bansal and Circle Officer (CO) Civil Lines Sarvam Singh, along with teams from multiple police stations, promptly reached the spot after receiving information about the incident.

CO Sarvam Singh stated that the police were alerted about a dispute near the graveyard in Nagla Patwari, which escalated when one individual opened fire. He confirmed that the injured victim, Sameer (son of Shakir), was admitted to JN Medical College and is under treatment.

The process of registering a formal case is currently underway at the local police station.
