ONE man is dead and another has been critically injured after a shooting in Sydney’s southwest late this afternoon.
A third man has just presented himself to hospital with injuries related to the shooting.
Emergency services were called to Western Sydney Parklands off Cowpasture Road in Wetherill Park late this afternoon.
The dead man is believed to have been shot in the head, while the critically injured male is thought to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition.
Police have established a crime scene which will be examined by forensic and ballistic specialists.
Detectives from Fairfield Local Area Command and State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad are investigating the incident.
Footage from the Seven News helicopter flying over the park showed a body covered in a white sheet while a number of men could be seen talking to police officers.
What appears to be a white luxury vehicle was surrounded by officers, although it is unclear if the car is related to the shooting.
A worker at Royale Truck Wash n Tyres, who did not want to be identified, said he heard police and emergency services rushing to the scene on Cowpasture Rd about 5.15pm
“There was a helicopter circling overhead and I was too busy to go outside but there are police patrolling the streets near our work,” he said.
Large areas of Cowpasture Rd are currently sealed off.
