Brisbane, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ), in partnership with the Stroke Foundation and the Healthier Queensland Alliance, has conducted a community health check event for Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) Scheme workers in Caboolture.

Held in collaboration with the Regional Coordinator for PALM workers and Queensland Berries, the programme combined health screening with sports and healthy lifestyle education for seasonal workers from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Participants from countries including Tonga, Samoa and Timor-Leste attended the event, which promoted preventive healthcare while encouraging physical activity and community engagement.

ECCQ said the initiative aimed to improve awareness of chronic disease prevention and support the wellbeing of PALM Scheme workers through accessible health checks and education.

The organisation thanked PALM workers, regional coordinators, Queensland Berries and partner organisations for contributing to the success of the event.

The programme formed part of the Healthier Queensland Alliance’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community health and promote healthy lifestyles among Queensland’s multicultural communities.
