Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, with support from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry of AYUSH, celebrated International Day of Yoga 2026 in association with the Brahma Kumaris Adelaide Meditation Centre.
Held under the theme “Wellness, Wisdom and World Peace,” the programme brought together nearly 40 participants for an afternoon dedicated to holistic wellbeing, inner harmony and meditation.
The event opened with a self-reflection video followed by peace songs that created a calm and uplifting atmosphere. Participants then took part in chair yoga, gentle stretching exercises and wellness practices designed to suit people of different fitness levels while promoting physical and mental health.
An interactive session titled “Exploring Wisdom” encouraged participants to reflect on the importance of knowledge, intellect and lived experience in leading a balanced life. A panel discussion further explored the programme’s core themes of wellness, wisdom and world peace, offering practical ideas for incorporating these values into everyday life.
The celebration concluded with a 15-minute guided meditation dedicated to world peace, followed by the distribution of blessing cards, sweets and refreshments. Organisers said the event ended on a note of gratitude, positivity and shared commitment to peace and wellbeing.
