Sydney, June 24 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, with support from the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the Ministry of AYUSH, partnered with Shrimad Rajchandra Mission Dharampur (SRMD) Adelaide to celebrate the 12th International Day of Yoga at the Klemzig Community Hall in South Australia.
Organised around the 2026 theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing,” the programme offered participants an inclusive and accessible yoga experience suitable for people of all ages and abilities. The session featured gentle asanas, rhythmic movements, breath awareness and guided relaxation aimed at promoting physical vitality, mental clarity and emotional wellbeing.
Community members also took part in flowing dance yoga sequences, mindful warm-up exercises, coordinated breathing practices and relaxation sessions that encouraged inner balance and social connection. The event welcomed both experienced practitioners and first-time participants in a supportive and energising environment.
Organisers said the enthusiastic response reflected the growing appreciation of yoga within the local community as a practical path to healthier living and holistic wellbeing. The celebration highlighted the continuing role of India-Australia cultural partnerships in promoting yoga and wellness across Australia.
