Sydney, June 16 (Australia India News Newsdesk): The Consulate General of India in Sydney and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre (SVCC), Sydney, in partnership with Bandana Cultural School, commemorated the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore, celebrating the life and legacy of India’s first Nobel Laureate.
The programme began with a floral tribute to Tagore, followed by performances of dance, music and poetry inspired by his timeless literary and artistic works. A special presentation highlighted key milestones from his life, his literary achievements and his lasting influence on global thought and culture.
Dr S. Janakiraman, Consul General of India in Sydney, addressed the gathering, emphasising the continuing relevance of Tagore’s philosophy in promoting peace, harmony and cultural understanding in the contemporary world.
The event concluded with an exhibition of photographs, artefacts and displays showcasing Tagore’s remarkable journey and contributions to literature, education and humanity. Around 60 guests attended the celebration, paying tribute to one of India’s greatest poets, philosophers and cultural icons.
