Hyderabad, June 30 (IANS) BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Tuesday called on the party cadres in Telangana to gear up to take people’s issues to the streets to bring the party to power in the state in 2028.

Addressing the party’s state executive meeting on the last day of his three-day visit to Telangana, he told the party leaders that if a change is to be brought in Telangana, they have to raise people’s voice on the streets.

He exuded confidence that if party leaders become the voice of the people, 2028 will belong to them and to the BJP.

Stating that the BJP showed its strong presence in Telangana by securing 35 per cent of the votes in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, he urged the party workers to engage in even greater struggles in the years ahead.

He claimed that the overwhelming support of the people and the enthusiasm of BJP karyakartas sent a clear message that strong public support for the BJP is steadily growing across Telangana.

He recalled that out of the two MPs the BJP had in 1984, one was from Telangana. “Telangana is the state where we made our ‘lotus’ bloom in the very early days. I believe that if our governments are currently functioning in 22 states across the country, it is because the people are ready to move forward under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he said.

The BJP chief stated that the party makes its achievements poll issues and not just the weaknesses of the Congress party.

“We highlight the change that has come in the country during the last 12 years. I believe the USP of our government is precisely this: we deliver on what we promise. On the contrary, Congress never fulfils its promises.”

He claimed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government is working for Telangana as well. He said PM Modi had shown concern for the state’s farmers. More than 30 lakh farmers are benefiting from the PM Kisan Samman Yojana, and over 33 lakh Kisan Credit Cards have been issued.

He also cited the turmeric board set up in Nizamabad and highlighted the number of beneficiaries in Telangana under schemes like Ayushman Bharat.

Nitin Nabin slammed the Congress government for what he called failing to fulfil even one of six guarantees in the last three years.

He reminded the Congress of its promises, especially the unemployment allowance and financial assistance to women.

Alleging that Congress has no concern for people, the BJP leader called on party cadres to work hard to overthrow this government.

He reiterated that the Congress government in Telangana has become the ATM for its Delhi leadership. He remarked that while the BJP government at the Centre brought GST reforms and enhanced the IT exemption limit to provide relief to people, the Congress party in Telangana was sending money to its Delhi leadership through “RR tax”.

“The hard-earned money of the people of Telangana should not go into RR tax,” he said.

He stated that for the BJP, coming to power in Telangana was not merely a historic necessity but the aspiration of countless workers who had sacrificed their lives to lay the party’s foundations in the state.

He said the BJP’s state leadership, backed by district, mandal, village and booth-level committees, would play a crucial role in the party’s bid for power.

Later, after winding up his Telangana visit, Nitin Nabin told the media that the BJP will form its own government in Telangana, and the process will begin with the upcoming local body elections.

During his speech, the BJP chief cited the party’s poll victory in West Bengal. “We defeated a government that was destructive in West Bengal, and made the lotus bloom in the land of our founding leader Syama Prasad Mukherjee,” he said.

Alleging that the erstwhile Trinamool government in West Bengal was perpetuating atrocities against women, he claimed that it was the BJP which persistently fought on behalf of women.

BJP state president N. Ramchander Rao, National General Secretary Sunil Bansal, National Vice President D.K. Aruna, state in-charge Abhay Patil, Union Ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar and MP Dr K. Laxman were among the key leaders who participated.
