Andhra: YSRCP attacks Chandrababu Naidu-led govt for ‘vindictive attitude’

Visakhapatnam, July 4 (IANS) The YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) on Saturday reiterated its accusation against the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu-led government that it has “failed” to keep its poll promises and has been exhibiting a “vindictive attitude”.

Addressing the media, Leader of Opposition in the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council, Botsa Satyanarayana, said that all the election promises of the state’s coalition government “went for a toss” and that the Rs 3 lakh crore loan has no accountability.

“There is nothing for the coalition government to boast about as the promises made to women remain unfulfilled, the education reforms have come to a standstill, the school bag and kits are still not distributed, and the functioning of government hospitals is in dismay,” he said.

Further, Satyanarayana said that the party took serious objection to CM Naidu for not coming to receive President Droupadi Murmu during her recent visit, which “is equivalent to insulting the highest office, a woman and a tribal”. The controversy erupted since the Chief Minister was in the state during the President’s visit “but could not take time out to welcome her”.

Botsa Satyanarayana reiterated that the Machilipatnam-Vijayawada-Guntur (MAVIGUN) proposal remains a major election issue for YSRCP in the 2029 Legislative Assembly elections, as previously stated by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. MAVIGUN is the state capital corridor proposed by Jagan Mohan Reddy.

“Next election will be fought on the battle, MAVIGUN versus Amaravati. We stand by it. We are for MAVIGUN. Everybody who is for MAVIGUN will vote for YSRCP. Everybody who is for Amaravati will vote for Chandrababu,” Reddy had said during a previous press conference.

Referring to the proposal, Satyanarayana said: “It is the most viable option with its existing infrastructure, and there would be lesser expenditure.”

Further, the YSR Congress Party leader said: “Amaravati is steeped in corruption and the favoured contractors are being paid exorbitant rates in lieu of commissions and farmers are being badly affected. Still, it is not clear who the promoter of the capital city is. There is no clarity on whether CM Chandrababu is dealing with the Singapore government or his business partners over there.”
