Chandigarh, June 13 (IANS) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab of large‑scale corruption, calling it a “gang of looters” and claiming its tenure was nearing an end.

Citing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) emphatic victory in the Abohar Municipal Corporation elections, he said the result was a clear indication of the political change taking shape in Punjab and expressed confidence that the BJP would form the next government in the state.

Stating that Punjab had suffered immensely due to the drug menace, CM Saini assured that once the BJP government assumed office in the state, not a single person involved in the drug trade would be spared or allowed to operate.

The Chief Minister was addressing the Other Backward Class (OBC) Maha Sammelan in Punjab’s Abohar town.

Paying homage to Punjab’s brave and patriotic legacy, CM Saini lauded the contribution of the state’s farmers, traders, youth and mothers towards nation‑building.

He, however, launched a strong critique of the state government’s much‑publicised ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, describing it as a complete failure and alleging that the AAP government was more interested in slogans and publicity than in delivering results on the ground.

Slamming the Punjab government on multiple fronts, CM Saini said the promise of providing Rs 1,000 per month to women had turned out to be nothing more than a political gimmick, pointing out that even the registration process for the scheme had yet to begin.

He accused the government of subjecting Abohar to blatant political neglect, saying allocating merely Rs 5 crore to the Municipal Corporation amounted to an insult to the people of the city. He said his government had provided more funds than this even to some of its smallest villages.

The Chief Minister said AAP had already realised that it would not return to power after the next Assembly elections and that some people were therefore busy “looting Punjab with both hands”.

Referring to his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann’s claim that 65,000 jobs had been provided in over four years, CM Saini said the Haryana government had provided 55,000 jobs to the youth of Haryana in just one year.

The Chief Minister said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi‑led government had granted constitutional status to the National Commission for Backwards Classes, describing it as a historic step that strengthened the rights and institutional standing of the OBC community.

He also highlighted the provision of 27 per cent reservation for OBCs in medical and higher education, saying the decision had significantly expanded educational opportunities. As a result, the number of OBC students in universities, engineering institutions and medical colleges across the country continued to grow steadily.
