Brisbane, January 4 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The new year began on an auspicious note in Brisbane with a large-scale Annadanam service organised on recently, bringing together community members in a spirit of devotion, generosity, and togetherness. The event was held at the Sri Selva Vinayakar Koyil – Ganesha Temple, where volunteers prepared and shared food with the community.

As part of the collective effort, more than 5,000 meals were cooked and distributed, reflecting the strong tradition of selfless service associated with Annadanam. The programme was attended by the presence of Consul General of India in Brisbane Neetu M. Bhagotia, and Head of Chancery and Consul Sushil Kumar Goel, whose participation encouraged volunteers and organisers alike.

Organisers expressed sincere appreciation to the volunteers who worked tirelessly in cooking, serving, and cleaning, as well as to the sponsors whose generous contributions made the initiative possible. The atmosphere throughout the day was described as deeply devotional, marked by a shared sense of purpose and joy.

The growing Annadanam tradition continues to be driven by the dedication of volunteers and supporters and is seen as a meaningful way to begin the New Year — not only through sharing meals, but by reaffirming the values of compassion, service, and community unity.
