Jaipur, April 2 (IANS) The Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rajasthan, on Thursday arrested Randhir Singh, Additional Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Sikar, who was also holding additional charge as Secretary of APMC Neem-ka-Thana, for accepting a bribe of ₹40,000.

Acting on directives from the Anti-Corruption Bureau Headquarters, the Sikar unit carried out a trap operation and caught the Additional Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee red-handed while accepting the bribe from a complainant.

The amount was allegedly taken in exchange for issuing licences for four shops in the names of the complainant’s family members.

According to DGP (ACB) Govind Gupta, the bureau had earlier received a complaint alleging that the Additional Secretary of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee was demanding ₹80,000 to process and issue the shop licences.

The complainant further stated that he was being harassed repeatedly for the payment.

The allegations were verified during a preliminary enquiry conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau.

Following verification, a trap was laid under the supervision of DIG Anil Kayal (Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jaipur) and executed under the direction of Additional SP Vijay Kumar (Anti-Corruption Bureau, Sikar Unit).

The operation was led by Inspector Subhash Meel, along with a dedicated team. During the operation, the accused Additional Secretary was caught in the act while accepting Rs 40,000 from the complainant, leading to his immediate arrest.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has registered a case against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is currently underway. Officials are examining the possibility of a wider network or involvement in similar cases. The investigation and interrogation are being conducted under the supervision of senior officers, including ADGP Smita Srivastava and IG S. Parimala.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against corruption and urged citizens to report such incidents to help maintain transparency and accountability in public services.
