New Delhi, June 1 (IANS) Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday met Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda and Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan in the national capital and discussed the state’s development trajectory, with a special focus on healthcare expansion and economic growth.

Sharing details of his meeting with Nadda on social media platform X, Sarma said the senior BJP leader had played a crucial role in strengthening the party in Assam during his tenure as the BJP’s national president and contributed significantly to the party’s electoral success in the state.

“Hon’ble Union Minister Shri @JPNadda ji has been instrumental in strengthening BJP in Assam during his tenure as the Rashtriya Adhyaksh and has played a key role in Assam Elections,” Sarma posted. The Chief Minister said he sought Nadda’s guidance for implementing several ambitious healthcare initiatives being undertaken by the Assam government.

“Today, as I met him in Delhi, I thanked him for his efforts and sought his guidance to implement the ambitious health sector schemes which we are undertaking in the State — from medical colleges to proton beam therapy to doctor intakes, etc., and build Assam as a preferred hub of medical tourism,” he added.

The Assam government has been focusing heavily on expanding medical infrastructure, including setting up new medical colleges, increasing MBBS seats and introducing advanced treatment facilities in the state.

Earlier in the day, Sarma also called on Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan and briefed him on Assam’s growth story and development initiatives. “Honoured to call upon Hon’ble Vice President of India, Shri @CPR_VP ji today to brief him on the Assam Growth story,” the Chief Minister posted on X.

Describing the Vice President as “an epitome of humility, hard work and dedication in public life”, Sarma said meeting him was “always a learning experience”.

“Look forward to his continued guidance in our journey of a Viksit Assam,” he added.

The meetings come as the Assam government continues to push infrastructure, healthcare and investment-led growth initiatives aimed at positioning the state as a major economic and institutional hub in the Northeast.
