Melbourne, June 14 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

The Australia India Institute will host a defence-focused discussion on  June 17, as part of its Insight Series, featuring strategic analyst and Research Fellow Kim Heriot-Darragh.

The session, to be held at the Institute’s office on Swanston Street in Melbourne, will explore how Australia and India can deepen defence cooperation over the next decade. Heriot-Darragh, who served at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi from 2019 to 2023, was the first Australian civilian to graduate from India’s year-long National Defence College course.

He is also the co-author of the Institute’s recent report titled Building a Resilient Australia–India Defence Relationship: Options for the Next Decade, which outlines frameworks for future collaboration.

Heriot-Darragh has held strategic roles with the Australian government in Washington DC and participated in military operations in Timor-Leste and Afghanistan. He holds a Master of International Law and brings a comprehensive understanding of regional defence dynamics to the discussion.

The event will run from 12pm to 1pm on Level 9, 501 Swanston Street, Melbourne.
