A Sunshine Coast entrepreneur has invented a product that benefits both surfers and disadvantaged kids.
Surfboard Hugger owner Katelyn Le Roux makes board bags that transform into sleeping bags or blankets and for every one she sells, she donates another to those less fortunate.
“I’ve surfed my whole life and board bags are always expensive and you can easily make it yourself,” she said.
“I changed the design so it suits surfboards better and then I thought the material was so comfortable that you could flip it inside out and it could become a sleeping bag.”
Ms Le Roux then decided to price the board bags so that she could afford to donate one to charity for every one she sells.
“I had a vision of a kid buying a board bag and then supplying another kid who is less fortunate with a sleeping bag. So if someone buys one then I give one to kids in foster care or children on the street a sleeping bag,” she said.
All the bags were custom made and could be ordered from www.surfboardhugger.com.
