Surat, June 5 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said discussions about West Bengal featured prominently during his recent visit to five foreign countries, using the observation to highlight what he described as growing national and international attention on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s electoral performance.

Addressing a public gathering in Surat, PM Modi referred to recent elections in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry while speaking about the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s electoral successes across the country.

“The recent elections in Bengal… you may be wondering why I suddenly mentioned Bengal. But during my recent visit to five countries, I noticed that Bengal was being discussed everywhere,” he said.

According to PM Modi, the BJP and NDA received a “massive mandate” in elections held in West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. He also pointed to victories in local body elections across different parts of the country.

“In panchayat and municipal corporation elections being held across the country, the BJP is also securing victories,” he said.

The remarks came during a speech focused largely on development, environmental sustainability, infrastructure, and governance, delivered after the inauguration and foundation-stone laying of projects worth Rs 18,800 crore in Surat.

PM Modi said electoral outcomes across states reflected public support for development-oriented governance and political stability.

Referring to the broader political climate, he argued that voters were increasingly rejecting uncertainty and rewarding administrations focused on delivery and long-term development goals.

“Every such election conveys only one message. The country does not like anarchy, uncertainty, and pessimism,” he said.

The Prime Minister linked recent electoral outcomes to what he described as a wider national mood characterised by optimism and aspirations for growth.

“India has moved far beyond negativity. This is a nation of boundless optimism and extraordinary aspirations,” he noted.

PM Modi said citizens were increasingly focused on achieving developmental goals and transforming ambitions into tangible outcomes.

He argued that this collective confidence would be central to India’s efforts to become a developed nation.

“When the people of a nation are determined, every national goal can be achieved. That is India’s strength,” he asserted.
