Kolkata, May 25 (IANS) West Bengal health department is issuing official ID cards with specific colour codes for different categories of healthcare personnel engaged in different state-run medical entities like medical colleges and hospitals and state-run hospitals.

The implementation of the project commenced from Monday and will be completed by May 28.

A notification on this count had been issued by the Director of Health Services recently, where different colour codes for different categories of healthcare officials and staff have been specified.

The colour codes of the ID cards for doctors will be purple, while the same for technicians will be orange.

The colour code for the administrative staff will be black, while the same for the nursing staff will be brown.

The colour codes for the ID cards for other categories of healthcare personnel engaged in state-run medical entities will be bottle green for support staff, deep maroon for security personnel, mustard yellow for miscellaneous staff and blue for outsourced personnel.

The new colour-based ID cards for different categories of medical staff engaged in different state-run medical units are being introduced following instructions from the higher authorities of the state health department.

This initiative, said the notification in the matter, will help to maintain a professional appearance, discipline, and proper identification among all deployed personnel.

As per the notification, one dedicated nodal person will be authorised in each building of the state medical entities for implementation of the project, whose task would be to coordinate and supervise all the activities on this count.

The authorities of the medical entities have been advised to arrange for a high-speed broadband connection along with an office desk for running the project successfully.

Since the implementation time is just four days, the state health department had advised all medical entity authorities to take necessary action and notify all the employees to register their details at the designated desk immediately.
