Patna, April 29 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary chaired a crucial Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, during which 63 schemes were approved, marking a significant push toward infrastructure development, administrative expansion, and financial strengthening.

The Cabinet approved the construction of a 4-lane Greenfield road connecting Darihara (Konhua) in Saran to Dumariaghat in Gopalganj.

The total length of this stretch is 73.51 km, and it will be built by Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited on a PPP model (DBFOT Toll).

Additionally, approval was granted to appoint DPR consultants and transaction advisors for the project.

Another major infrastructure project cleared is the 90-km Buxar–Arrah–Maner Ganga Path, which will also be developed under the PPP mode.

In a key decision aimed at boosting education infrastructure, over 2 acres of land in Patna have been allotted to the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) with a lease period of 30 years (renewable). The token payment for this land is Rs 10.

This move is expected to strengthen fashion and design education in the state.

The Cabinet also approved Rs 51.19 crore for the construction of buildings for the Cyber Crime Unit and Special Branch in Patna and the creation of 23 posts in the Finance Department for establishing a Cyber Treasury.

These steps aim to modernise governance and enhance digital financial management.

In a major financial decision, the Cabinet increased the Bihar Contingency Fund from Rs 350 crore to Rs 13,900 crore for the financial year 2026–27, significantly boosting the state’s emergency financial capacity.

The Cabinet also approved renaming the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna. It is named Patna Zoo. The managing body will now be called the Patna Zoo Management and Development Committee.

The Cabinet decisions reflect a strong focus on infrastructure expansion, educational growth, digital governance, and financial preparedness.

With these approvals, the Bihar government aims to accelerate development and strengthen administrative efficiency across sectors.
