The Home Department has also transferred 53 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) across the state, assigning them new responsibilities in districts, headquarters, and specialised units.

The transfers are aimed at reorganising police administration and strengthening operational efficiency across Bihar.

According to the notification issued by the Home Department, Preeta Verma has been appointed Director General of Home Guards. Nirmal Kumar Azad, currently serving as Director General (Training), has been given the additional charge of Director General (Prohibition).

Pankaj Kumar Darad has been transferred from the Special Vigilance Unit and appointed Additional Director General (ADG)-cum-Managing Director of the Police Building Construction Corporation.

Sudhanshu Kumar has been assigned the additional charge of the Special Vigilance Unit.

In another major administrative exercise, the Home Department transferred 53 DSP-rank officers serving in different districts and police units.

The officers have been posted to a range of assignments, including the Economic Offences Unit, Special Branch, Bihar Police Academy, District police headquarters, Police training institutions, and Crime investigation units.

Several officers have been moved from field postings to headquarters and training establishments, while others have been assigned investigative and district-level responsibilities.

Districts affected by the transfers include Patna, Khagaria, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, Nalanda, and several other locations.

The Home Department has also granted temporary officiating executive charge of staff officer (Pay Level-13) to eight Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs), in accordance with the provisions of the General Administration Department’s notification dated October 13, 2023.

The officers are Shibli Nomani (Araria), Rajkishore Singh (Munger), Mukul Kumar Ranjan (Vaishali), Ashish Anand (Saharsa), Nurul Haq (Siwan), Alok Ranjan (Gaya), Sonu Kumar Rai (Bhojpur), and Upendra Kumar Yadav (Siwan).

The Home Department clarified that the Staff Officer assignments are temporary officiating executive charges.

The officers will continue to perform the duties of their existing posts while also discharging the responsibilities of the Staff Officer position until further orders.

They will be entitled to the pay scale and financial benefits associated with the post from the date they assume charge, subject to the conditions laid down in the relevant government notification.

The latest reshuffle is part of the Bihar government’s ongoing efforts to reorganise the police administration through transfers, promotions, and the assignment of additional responsibilities.
