Bihar: Tejashwi Yadav targets govt over inflation, BJP hits back

Patna, June 30 (IANS) The political confrontation between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition in Bihar intensified on Tuesday after Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav criticised the Samrat Choudhary government over rising prices of essential commodities.

The remarks prompted a sharp response from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Sanjay Saraogi, who countered by targeting former Chief Minister Rabri Devi.

In a social media post, Tejashwi Yadav claimed that the rising prices of tomatoes, onions, potatoes, and other essential food items have placed a heavy burden on ordinary households.

He alleged that after increases in the prices of petrol, diesel, and LPG, consumers are now struggling with the rising cost of daily necessities, including pulses, flour, vegetables, and edible oil.

The RJD leader also accused the NDA government of failing to control inflation and alleged that hoarding, black marketing, unemployment, poverty, and corruption have worsened the public’s economic situation.

Tejashwi further criticised the BJP-led alliance, accusing it of pursuing policies that, he said, have adversely affected common citizens.

Responding to Tejashwi Yadav’s criticism of Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi launched a counterattack directed at Rabri Devi. Saraogi said that the day Rabri Devi took the oath as Bihar’s Chief Minister was, in his view, a black day for the state.

He urged Tejashwi Yadav to remember that period before making remarks about the current government.

On Monday, Tejashwi Yadav referred to CM Samrat Choudhary as a selected Chief Minister and had earlier used the phrase “Cheap Minister” while criticising him.

The BJP has condemned those remarks, while the RJD has continued to question the government’s handling of issues such as inflation, governance, and unemployment.

The latest exchange highlights the increasingly confrontational political atmosphere in Bihar, with both the ruling alliance and the opposition sharpening their attacks ahead of future political contests.

The allegations and counter-allegations exchanged by both sides are political statements.
