Patna, July 6 (IANS) The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) has intensified its anti-corruption campaign, registering a record number of cases during the first six months of 2026.

Sharing enforcement data at a press conference in Patna, Jitendra Singh Gangwar, Additional Director General (ADG) of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, said the department had registered 152 corruption cases between January 1 and June 30, 2026, the highest number recorded for the corresponding period in recent years.

To highlight the increase in enforcement, he noted that the Bureau had registered 63 cases during the entire year of 2018, whereas 152 cases had already been recorded within the first six months of 2026.

He described the figures as evidence of the Bureau’s intensified crackdown on corruption across the state.

The ADG reiterated the Bureau’s commitment to taking strict action against corruption.

He said the Vigilance Investigation Bureau would continue to act firmly against those found involved in corrupt practices and that no guilty individual would be spared under the law.

As part of its public outreach efforts, the Bureau is also observing Vigilance Awareness Week from July 2 to July 8, with a series of programmes aimed at promoting awareness against corruption.

Jitendra Singh Gangwar outlined the initiatives being undertaken during the awareness week.

He said several public awareness programmes have been organised, including a painting competition for students to encourage discussions on integrity and transparency.

According to the ADG, students participated enthusiastically in the event.

The Bureau’s awareness campaign and enforcement drive are aimed at strengthening transparency in public administration while encouraging greater public participation in the fight against corruption.

The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) of Bihar is the state’s premier anti-corruption agency under the Bihar Police.

It is responsible for investigating corruption cases, conducting vigilance inquiries, and carrying out trap operations and raids to apprehend public servants allegedly involved in bribery and other corrupt practices.

The Bureau functions in line with the Bihar government’s policy of zero tolerance towards corruption, aiming to promote transparency, accountability and integrity in public administration.

Through sustained enforcement and awareness initiatives, it seeks to curb corrupt practices in government offices and ensure that citizens can access public services in a fair, transparent and hassle-free manner.
